Deer

When using the CAN® calls?
Turn the call over 2 or 3 times every 5 minutes and wait for a response, then repeat. You can also use a grunt call in conjunction with the CAN® to simulate a buck chasing a doe. This is a key activity to imitate during the rut and can be very effective when used properly.

In reference to the above tip:
The E-Deer #7752 is our electronic deer call that has both the grunt and the estrus bleat feature. This call can be positioned close to your setup and with a push of a button on the remote you can simulate both of these calls as well as rattling and the snort wheeze.

Elk

Mouth Calls are probably some of the most used weapons in elk hunting.
Therefore proper care is needed for them. After a couple of uses, and especially after the season, rinse the calls with tap water and store them in the refrigerator. This ensures that the calls will be guarded from heat and also direct sunlight. Never leave your mouth calls in a vehicle for a long period of time, as this will ruin the reeds and you'll be searching for another call.

Turkey

Here's a tip for Box calls:
Take a piece of toilet paper or napkin and coat that with some chalk. Then, place the chalked piece underneath the paddle and rubber band it. This not only keeps the paddle chalked but also keeps the call from making any noise while you are moving.

All of our Crystal calls require sanding.
Included in the package with your call is some 50 and 120 grit sandpaper. First, use the 50 to get started, then switch to the 120 grit to keep the call conditioned. If you need any additional 50 grit or 120 grit sandpaper it can be found at any local hardware store.

When using any slate style call,
keeping the tip of your striker clean is a must. Throughout calling, material can build up in the tip causing the sound to change on you. The tip can be sanded with 120 grit sandpaper. We make a tool especially for this called the Slick Stick #668. This tool has a conditioning stone, a place to clean your striker and storage in the center for chalk. You will tell a difference very quick. Also oil from your fingertips can cause a slate or glass call to have dead spots. If you do happen to touch the surface, sand the area lightly or use a 3m pad to clear it up.

The Power Owl is a very effective call to make turkeys gobble during the spring.
Refer to the back of the packaging for detailed info on the proper technique of blowing this call. When you remove the barrel, be sure to use your hands around the end of the call to create the owl sound and blow the sequence “Who cooks for you...who cooks for you all....”

Predator

When using our closed reed calls, use caution if you remove the barrel on them. The metal reed that's inside will bend easily if mishandled.

It's crucial to stay well camouflaged when calling predators.
Their keen since of eyesight and smell are unbelievable. Keep in mind these couple of things and also try to stay in the shade if the calling set up allows it.

Waterfowl

To take apart our duck calls.
Grab the barrel in one hand and the stopper or bell in the other and rock the pieces back and forth from each other and twist. The call should come apart after doing this. If not, please call us at 800-523-2395 ext147 and we will be more than happy to help you.

When using our short reed calls,
remember to use back pressure with your hands. This not only makes the call easier to use but also gives the call a more realistic goosy sound.
